New Meeple Add-On!

Since the $110k Stretch Goal has been unlocked, you can now add the $3 Add-On Gatherer Mushling Meeples to your pledge! This add-on is a set of 4 Meeples, 1 of each color, with different designs from the Deluxe and Standard sets. If you are a Deluxe Edition backer, just adding 1 of these add-ons allows you to play the game with a different meeple design for each of your 3 Gatherer Mushlings! Have a look at these new meeples in all their virtual glory!

PAX Unplugged Recap

PAX Unplugged was amazing and it was so nice to meet some of our backers in person. Everyone that stopped by was so nice and supportive and we are so happy to be a part of such a positive community :) I will make sure to have extra demo space next time so more of you can get a chance to play the game. Meet the new Hero

I can't believe we already reached this point in our stretch goals. Abi Toads just finished the art for this new Hero Mushling Card, which will now be included in both editions of the game! Unfortunately, it looks like a pretty typical Mushling. Not sure why Abi Toads gave it such a simple design. It doesn't seem to have any standout features or a cool outfit so it blends in with the regular Mushlings of Mycelium... but maybe that's what it wants?

Either way, this Hero Mushling Card's abilities sure are powerful, and I'd love to get my hands on this card during a game. For those of you who are not sure how these Hero Mushling Cards work, and why they exists, here's a brief overview of the design philosophy behind the variant they are used in:

The Design Behind the Hero Tavern

The Hero Tavern variant adds a new gathering location where players may spend their Combat Tokens at in order to gain very powerful Hero Mushling Cards. This variant was designed to further reward players for winning as the attacker in battle. Without this variant, combat in Mycelium is a bit light, and done later in the game when your only shot at winning is to break the bonds of the player who is about to win so you can get that "one more turn" you need to win. As the attacker, the rewards for winning are mediocre, and arguably benefit the rest of the table almost as much as yourself. 

Typically, the player doing the attacking is not in the lead, and the defending player is nearing victory. Some playtesters expressed disappointment when they realized they don't get a Mushling Card like the defender would when winning in combat. Therefore the Hero Tavern was born, offering rewards to the player who stood up and took action for the "greater good" of the table. But the payoff of being the aggressor will not happen immediately.  Because of Mycelium's turn order, a player who just won as the attacker will typically have to wait 2 turns before they actually get to use a Hero Mushling Card, and that's only if they decide to place a Gatherer Mushling on the Hero Tavern on their next Place Phase. This delay favors players who take action quickly, and incentivizes players to attack earlier in the game.

In summary, if you find you or your playgroup needs more encouragement to attack other players, or if you just want to see these powerful abilities in action, then try out the Hero Tavern variant!

$100k Stretch Goal Unlocked!

It's hard to believe we are already at 6 figures. This means we get Linen Finish on the Player Mats! The final linen finish upgrade, huzzah!

Up next we have the newly added Add-On Gatherer Mushling Meeples! In case you missed it, these will be a $3 add-on that includes 4 meeples with 4 new meeple designs.

PAX Unplugged!

We will be exhibiting at PAX Unplugged from December 2-4. I may not be able to answer everyone's comments right away during this time, but I will try my best! We look forward to seeing some of you there :)

You folks are amazing! Over $85,000 pledged, which means the Deluxe Edition box of the game will be joining the club of linen-finish components.  Next will be the player mats, and after that, the real fun starts and we will hopefully reveal some Hero Mushlings that are so eager to join the mix!

NEW STRETCH GOAL: Add-On Gatherer Mushling Meeples!

We have decided to include a new stretch goal, at $110,000!

You don’t have to ask us twice to meeplify more Mushlings, so here is a little preview of what is in the works for the additional gatherers!  We are currently finalizing the details of producing these little buddies. These will be a $3 add-on, and will NOT be included with either edition of the game! Unlike the Deluxe set of Gatherers or Standard set of Gatherers, there will only be 1 of each unique meeple per add-on (4 meeples in total) Which one is your favorite?

Abi and I are SO excited to have a booth at PAX this weekend, and to meet you all in person if you are attending!  We will have a table in the booth where you can demo Mycelium and see the Mushlings in all their glory.  We will also have prints of the art from the game and some Mushling pins.  Feel free to stop by our booth to say hi, ask questions, or just admire Penny Bun’s vacant stare.
